Privacy Policy

Grozaak is a kitchen app: it keeps track of the food you have, reminds you to use it, and shows you what gets thrown away. This policy explains what information the app and this website collect, what it is used for, who else handles it, and how you can delete it.
Grozaak is run by Flutterboots Services LLP, Hubballi, Karnataka, India (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@flutterboots.com.
The short version
- We collect what you put into the app, and a small amount of information about how the app is used.
- We do not sell your information, and the app has no advertising.
- We do not collect your location, your contacts or your photos.
- The camera is used only to read barcodes. Nothing is photographed or stored.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address and your password. The password is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read. If you give a name when you set up or join a kitchen, we store that too, so the people you share the kitchen with can see who did what.
Your kitchen
Everything you add to the app, which includes:
- the name of your kitchen and the people who belong to it;
- the food in it: names, brands, barcodes, categories, pack sizes, how much is left, the dates on the pack, and the price if you enter one;
- what was used, thrown out, added or removed, when, and by which member;
- your shopping list.
When a kitchen is created, the app also saves the time zone, currency, language and region, and measurement system from the phone that created it. They can be changed in Settings. We use the region setting, not your location: the app never asks for or reads where you are.
Everyone in a kitchen sees the same kitchen. Anyone you give your invite link or code to can join, and will see the food, the shopping list, the history and the names of the other members.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your phone, whether it is an iPhone or an Android phone, and your reminder settings, such as the time you want the daily reminder. The token is an address for your phone that lets us send it a notification. It does not contain your name or email address.
The camera
The app asks for the camera so it can read the barcode on a pack. The picture is read on your phone to find the barcode number. No photo or video is taken, saved or sent anywhere.
Barcodes and the shared product list
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to our server so we can tell you what the product is. If we have not seen it before, our server asks a public food database. That request comes from our server, so the database sees the barcode but not you or your phone.
If nobody knows the barcode and you type in what the product is, its name, brand and category are saved to a product list shared by everyone who uses Grozaak, so the next person who scans the same barcode does not have to type it. That entry is not linked to you, your account or your kitchen. Please do not type anything personal into a product name.
Searching for a product by name
When you search for a product by typing its name, the words you typed, the country code from your kitchen’s region setting and your measurement system are sent to our server. If nobody has made the same search before, our server passes those three things to an artificial intelligence service to suggest matching products. Your name, email address, account and kitchen are not sent with them. We keep the suggestions so the same search can be answered without asking again, and we count how many searches each account makes so that the feature cannot be overused.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe, the payment is taken by Apple or Google through your App Store or Google Play account. We never see your card or bank details. We are told that you have a subscription, which plan it is, and when it renews or ends, so the app can unlock what you have paid for.
How the app is used
The app records a short list of events, such as “an item was added”, “a barcode was scanned” or “the app was opened”, with a few details like whether the item was scanned or typed. These are tied to a random account ID and kitchen ID. They never include your email address, your name, or the names of products: we have deliberately kept what is in your fridge out of them. We use them to see whether the app is being used and which parts are not working.
Crashes and errors
If the app or our server hits an error, a report is sent to us with the technical details: what went wrong, the app version, and the model and operating system of the phone. We have switched off the options that would attach personal details or what was on screen.
Technical records
Like every internet service, the companies that host our servers and this website record the IP address and time of each request. When someone tries to join a kitchen with an invite code, we record the attempt so that codes cannot be guessed. The app also checks for updates when it opens, which sends basic technical information about the app and phone to the update service.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
What we use it for
- To run the app: showing your kitchen, keeping it in step between the people who share it.
- To send the reminders you have switched on.
- To work out your reports, such as how much was thrown out in a month.
- To recognise products from their barcode or name.
- To find and fix faults, prevent misuse, and understand whether the app is useful.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or rent it to anyone.
Who else handles it
We use other companies to run parts of Grozaak. They handle information on our behalf, and only to provide their service to us. We require each of them to protect your information to at least the standard this policy describes.
- Hosting and database providers store the accounts and the kitchens, handle sign-in, and run our server and this website.
- Notification and update services, including Apple and Google, deliver notifications and app updates to your phone.
- An analytics provider receives the usage events described above.
- An error-reporting provider receives the crash and error reports.
- A public food database receives barcode numbers from our server.
- Artificial intelligence providers receive the text of product searches.
If you would like to know which companies these are, write to us at support@flutterboots.com and we will tell you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if Grozaak is taken over by another organisation, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
These companies may process information in countries other than the one you live in, where data protection law may differ.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account.
You can delete your account in the app, under Settings, then Delete account. When you do:
- your account, your name, your push tokens and your reminder settings are deleted;
- you leave every kitchen you belong to;
- if you were the last person in a kitchen, that kitchen and everything in it are deleted;
- if other people still use a kitchen, what you added to it stays there for them, but is no longer linked to you.
Products you added to the shared product list stay, because they were never linked to you. Usage events and error reports already sent are tied only to a random ID that no longer points to an account.
If you no longer have the app, you can still have your account deleted: see Delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- You can change or remove anything in your kitchen from inside the app.
- You can turn notifications and camera access off in your phone’s settings.
- You can delete your account, as described above.
Depending on where you live, the law may also give you the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, or to complain to your local data protection authority. To use any of these rights, or to raise a complaint about how your information has been handled, write to us at support@flutterboots.com.
Keeping it safe
Information is encrypted while it travels between your phone and our servers, and the database is set up so that a kitchen can be read only by its members. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep yours protected.
Children
Grozaak is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
